About a month ago I was leaning over my magnifying mirror and noticed my neck. OH MY GOD! My skin looked all crepey and loose and like my neck belonged to a much older me! What the?!? SO now I’m on a war path to “fix” my neck. My neck issues are: texture, some laxity, and crepeyness. Iris says I should just throw every treatment and product at it! SO here’s where I’ve started, and also what I plan to do.
First order of business was to start using products and my Clarisonic. Skin Better’s Face is perfect for improving skin strength and pliability: it hydrates, has a great blend of antioxidants, and stimulates collagen which produces a lifting effect. I also use Skin Better’s Alpa Ret Intensive at night which improves skin firmness and improves skin texture. I began using my Clarisonic on my neck as well, with the aim of helping the products penetrate the skin better and also help improve texture.
What comes next? Whisper and/or micropen. They can both achieve similar results via different mechanisms. Micropen uses tiny needles to penetrate the skin and stimulate the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally. The result is increased blood supply to the skin layers and the formation of more collagen and elastin (which give your skin elasticity and firmness).
Whisper laser resurfacing works by emitting laser light that removes the outer layers of aged and sun damaged tissue. This stimulates skin cell turnover while triggering the skin’s natural response to form new collagen and elastin fibers to strengthen and rejuvenate the skin. I’ll probably try both and see what works best.
Botox can also be injected in the neck to create a lifting effect. The platysmal bands in the neck can cause the skin to drape. A small amount of Botox can be injected to relax these bands which in turn gives the appearance of tighter skin.According to Iris, a good candidate is someone with little to no fat under the chin and strong platysmal bands.
And a new possibility: Euro Threads! Euro Threads are dissolvable surgical threads that are inserted under the skin to lift and tighten instantly. They are placed under the skin almost like a scaffold which pulls the skin tight, as if you have a surgical face or neck lift, but without the downtime and anesthesia. Although I don’t have much lifting that needs to be done, the threads also stimulate collagen rebuilding, which, like laser and micropen, help to increase skin’s elasticity and strength.
Because it's still practically summer, I'll likely start with a Micropen treatment. When it gets cooler and less sun intensive, I'll go for the Whisper laser treatment (and on my hands too!). Obviously I'll post pictures!
