The BBL Hero is particularly effective for treating sun damage, age spots, freckles, and redness, as well as stimulating collagen production for firmer, more youthful-looking skin.

For those of us who've experienced the transformative effects of the original BBL (Broad Band Light)  treatment, it's clear that reverting to traditional IPL (photofacial) therapy might not be on the horizon.

The unparalleled clinical studies and outcomes associated with BBL technology, backed by over a decade of data, make it the pinnacle of non-ablative light therapy lasers for skin rejuvenation.

BBL therapy doesn't just reverse sun damage; it ignites collagen production, addresses hyperpigmentation, and combats rosacea. In 2021, Sciton® unveiled the upgraded BBL HERO®, a game-changer in the realm of traditional BBL.

BBL Hero is the only technology of its kind, and was developed to specifically address deep tissues at the molecular level in order to target skin molecules that are connected to aging. BBL Hero is an excellent option for all skin types except for people with skin type 6 or for those with tattoos in the area.

BBL Hero by Sciton stands out as the most comprehensive and adaptable broadband light system in its category. It holds FDA clearance for a wide range of applications, including but not limited to benign pigmented lesions, cutaneous lesions, cutaneous vascular lesions, hair reduction, and pustular inflammatory acne vulgaris.

With BBL Hero, seamless treatment of various skin conditions is made possible through interchangeable Smart Filters, offering versatility with different wavelengths.

How does BBL Hero differ than the original BBL

BBL HERO is capable of emitting high-energy broadband light at shorter pulse widths and faster repetition rates than BBL. With twice the cooling capacity of BBL, BBL HERO effortlessly maintains the desired sapphire chill plate temperate throughout treatment—even at maximum output. With BBL HERO, you can safely treat patients up to four times faster than is possible with BBL.

How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments needed will vary from patient to patient and your physician will personalize a treatment plan based on the level of improvement you desire. Your physician may also combine your treatment with other popular aesthetic procedures to further personalize your treatment.

How long does the treatment take?
It can take as little as 15 minutes, depending on the area you are looking to treat, as well as the treatment you are receiving. Treatment time varies from patient to patient.

What will happen during the procedure?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may briefly feel a warm or “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. Your provider will discuss all of your options with you including the benefits, risks and what to expect.

Will it be uncomfortable?
The procedure is non-invasive, typically gentle and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anesthetic; however, your provider may choose to use it depending on his/her patients’ sensitivities.

What should I expect after the treatment?
You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. Consult your provider if it does not. For some spots, you will see a darkening of the treated areas followed by fading and flaking off at a later stage. Results depend on your skin type, the number of treatments, and the area treated. Our staff will provide you with complete information about the post treatment care and results.

How long will it take to recover?
This is a non-invasive and typically gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work, and resume most of your activities immediately.

What aftercare do I need?
It is important to follow your post-care instructions. You may be given some skin care products and guidelines on how to use them. You will be sensitive to ultraviolet light, and you must avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed. Fully cover your skin or use a good sunscreen whenever you go outdoors.
