Dr. Rockwood was chief resident at UT Southwestern where she completed residency in the Parkland Emergency Medicine Department in Dallas, Texas in 2006.

She graduated from The University of Texas Medical Branch in 2003 and holds a bachelor from The University of Texas at Austin undergraduate in 1999.

As a working mother of four, she understands the need to take care of yourself first so that you are best able to take care of others!

My family moved to Austin in 1976 and I have been a loyal resident of this vibrant, expanding city ever since.  I studied Business and Economics at the University of Texas and subsequently decided to pursue my passion in the medical esthetics industry.  I obtained my Professional Laser Technician’s license in 2011 and continued my training under two influential Physicians, gaining specific knowledge in the science of anti-aging, body composition, and skin.

As a teenager and through early adulthood, I always struggled with my skin.  I have seen countless doctors, specialists and dermatologists that have prescribed an overflowing shoebox of medications and treatments over the years.  After decades of failed attempts, I decided that Austin was in need of a place that offered a more personalized approach for these services.

Your skin is your body’s largest organ.  It is the first thing people see when they meet you and if you are not comfortable in your own skin, then your confidence suffers as a consequence.  Our self-confidence molds us and our heritage or age can be undesirable components that help shape that mold.  Age is inevitable and our skin is a constant reminder that change is as well.  Our bodies and our skin often undergo very personal, unwelcome changes through the years and we all need someone to listen and help us through that intimate process. Our facility offers customized planning for our clients through a variety of skin and body services.  Our personalized approach includes a full esthetic assessment and ongoing evaluations by our highly skilled and accredited staff members.  Our medical spa truly cares about the success and outcome of our patient’s treatments and the overall experience that we provide.

The day we opened our doors I knew we were going to provide a very unique service in this town.  Our Med Spa is a boutique style facility in the heart of Westlake that emphasizes non-invasive treatment programs for anti-aging, specialized skin services, and weight loss.  Our approach to medical esthetic solutions offers our clientele a more natural and youthful outcome that radiates your physical beauty.

My official title is Spa Director, but what I really do is a little bit of everything! I am the girl behind the Monday emails, the online events, the Weekly and Monthly Specials, the website, the blogs, Instagram and Facebook, etc! My job was created to be a very diverse role, and I absolutely love that about it. I also get to interact with all our reps from the skin care, laser, and injectable product companies. I used to say I was like the Wolf from Pulp Fiction: if you need something taken care of, I’ll get it done!

My schooling and previous occupations have been diverse, as my life shifted a lot throughout my 20s to 40s. I have an undergraduate degree from UT Austin in US Southern History and African-American Studies, and a Master's Degree in Counseling.

I came to Body Tonic 6 years ago when Body Tonic began to have fast growth, and more attention was needed for marketing and management. I have never loved a job this much, nor have I ever been so blessed as to work with such a tight-knit, talented group of ladies.

My absolute goal is to ensure you will receive the safest, most up-to-date, most effective, result-oriented medical aesthetic services. I offer comprehensive consultations to provide you with the most accurate answers on cosmetic procedures that best fit your individual skin type and particular concerns and desires. I will enjoy helping you prioritize your concerns and together co-create a plan of action. You will leave with a customized portfolio containing your treatment options, pre- and post- instructions, prices, advised maintenance protocols and a recommended at home skin care regime.

Continued education is extremely important and I participate in multiple extra-curricular courses every year (in person and online) on the latest injection techniques and product knowledge.

I have over 15 years of cosmetic injection experience and my specialties include: Botox, Xeomin and Dysport injections, liquid face lift, dermal fillers, lip enhancement, cheek augmentation, tear trough fillers, jawline enhancement, Sculptra and Kybella.

I joined Body Tonic in October of 2014, and bring to the practice over 15 years nursing experience. I am a Licensed Vocational Nurse and before joining Body Tonic, I worked with a plastic surgery group in Austin for over ten years. My experience working with reputable physicians who offer the highest caliber of care truly molded me into the professional I am today.

Throughout my nursing career I have expanded my skill set on many different levels, with special focus in the aesthetics industry. My experience and knowledge encompasses the whole realm of cosmetic surgery, as well as all aspects of medical aesthetics including Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin injections, all dermal filler enhancements (liquid facelift, lips, cheeks, jawline, tear troughs, etc), Sculptra and Kybella.

I love continuing to evolve in my industry, and constantly add to my knowledge by keeping up with the newest uses for neuromodulators (Like Botox), dermal fillers, and the latest advanced injection techniques. This, coupled with my artistic eye, helps me give each client the optimal results they envision. I offer thorough consultations during which I will assess, listen to your individual needs, and provide you with knowledge and education about the treatments you receive.

As a nursing professional, I’ve come to understand my true passion for skin and being an injection specialist. Transitioning from a plastic surgery practice to a medical spa practice made perfect sense for me to further my career and focus on being an aesthetic injector. My previous experience not only refined me, but enhanced my ability to conduct comprehensive consultations to give each client a feeling of comfort, and to gain an understanding of their aesthetic needs. I look forward to creating lasting rapports with my clients while offering exceptional treatments and care!

After 15 years in the hospitality industry planning events and loving every minute of it, I decided to start my next chapter in life. My passion for skin care and correcting my own sun damage from the 80s and 90s was always a major concern. I have always been obsessed with skin care since I was a little girl, so logically my next step was to return to school and see what I could learn.

I went to National Laser Institute where I was taught by some of the field's leading medical aestheticians.  I learned advanced laser treatments, laser hair removal, tattoo removal, fractional laser treatments, IPL and much more. Once I began my training I knew that I had made the right decision to join this fabulous world.

After I was certified and licensed,  I joined Body Tonic and felt like I had found the missing piece of my puzzle. Every day I learn something new from each of the talented women I work with, and can’t say enough about our AMAZING clients. Continuing education is important to me and I have completed additional certifications for treatments such as dermaplaning, body contouring with Vanquish, medical aethetics, and BBL and Halo laser/light training with the Sciton Joule.

My main goal was and always has been to make sure every person I come in to contact with leaves feeling amazing….Its a great feeling to love what you do each day!

At 21, I started working in a nursing home. Never did I realize how much I would enjoy caring for the elderly. My favorite part about that job was getting to know the residents that lived there. They shared amazing stories, were full of wisdom, and gave great advice. After 8 months, I decided to change majors and go to nursing school.

I spent the first 10 years after I graduated at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Milwaukee, WI. I worked with the Plastic Surgery population and later transferred to the Trauma ICU.

My husband and I moved to Austin 5 years ago looking for warmer weather and new opportunities. I was drawn to aesthetics as I struggled with acne and was on antibiotics for 15 years. I understood how much the way we look and feel about ourselves really impacts our lives in so many ways. (Body Tonic was the first place I ever got Botox in Austin. I scheduled with Iris because she had such impressive reviews.)

Over the last four years I have been working as a Cosmetic Nurse Injector. I spent my first year working in a Med Spa in Bee Caves. I then took a job with one of the same Plastic Surgeons I worked with back in Milwaukee. He has an office in West Lake Hills where I worked over the last 3 years.

The last four years in aesthetics have been most rewarding years of my career. I love having the ability to give men and women the confidence that shines through in every aspect of their lives.

I live in Barton Hills with my husband, my elderly grandfather, and our 3 dogs.

I enjoy my Peloton and yoga. In the summer I can be found on the greenbelt hiking or out on Ladybird lake paddle boarding.

Next spring I will be pursuing advancing my degree and going back to school to be a Nurse Practitioner.
