Breaking it Down: Details on the Benefits of Botanicals, Lyft + Topical Sculptra

We’ve got some great specials this month and one of them is new, so I’m gonna give a little love to each special so you know just how each treatment or product can benefit you.

Phyto Corrective Combo

I used to have terrible acne. I have taken Accutane three different time in my life: once at 13, once in my mid 20s and once in my mid 30s. Around the time of that last round of treatment I also began having monthly facials. My aesthetician would do steam, extractions, some form of peel and masque, and finish me off with an application of various Skin Ceuticals products: CE Ferulic to help speed healing and give me antioxidant protection, Phyto Corrective gel to calm the redness and irritation, and of course an SPF to protect my newly exfoliated skin. I have continued to use those products ever since. Even though I have clear skin now I like the way the Phyto Corrective gel smells and feels.

Last year Skin Ceuticals introduced their Phyto Corrective masque which not only hydrates and calms irriated and red skin, as does the gel, but it also cools the skin temperature by five degrees. If that doesn’t sound too impressive, think of having a fever and being able to reduce it by five degrees. This botanical masque is heavenly and is perfect for after workouts, hot yoga, any time during the Texas summers, and perfect for acneic skin.

Topical Sculptra

About two months ago, I had a micropen treatment with topical Sculptra. Sculptra is known as collagen-stimulating filler. It contains microscopic particles that prompt your body to make new collagen, which results in smoother skin, less fine lines and wrinkles, and a slight, youthful volume.

Sculptra, whether injected or applied topically, does not provide instant results like Juvederm or Restylane, for example. Rather, Sculptra’s collagen-stimulating properties take a little longer to kick in, but are longer-lasting.

That said, our owner, Stacey, tried a topical Sculptra treatment on her knees and the results are spectacular, and were evident within a week after treatment. She had a dramatic improvement in texture and her skin appears much more plump and hydrated.

How does Sculptra work topically?

This technique works because once the skin is temporarily "injured" with microneedling (it creates micro channels, or tiny openings, in the skin), there is a several minute window of opportunity when the micro channels which the small particles of Sculptra can penetrate. It is rubbed into the skin, just as a serum or PRP would be. As a side note, other fillers can’t be applied topically because their particle size is too large.

How long does it last?

Results from your micropen will kick in pretty quickly. Results improve from the time of treatment to about 6 weeks post. You will see improved skin clarity and more of a glow. Your Sculptra, because it is a collagen-stimulator, will take a few months to show. Results you will see once it kicks in are improved skin texture, fewer lines and wrinkles, and a more youthful plumpness.

Liquid Face Lyft (Multiple syringe special with Galderma fillers)

A doctor once said, If your patient comes in and tells you they just feel like their face needs a lift, use Lyft! I think about that statement a lot because now that all the filler in my cheeks is diminished, I’m a year and a half older, and I lost a few pounds, I feel like my cheeks have sunken down to my mouth… I’ll be getting my own face lyft as soon as the schedule allows! The Galderma fillers are diverse and can be used for almost any procedure. Tear trough enhancement is typically done with Restylane. Cheeks can be enhanced with Lyft. Restylane, Refyne and Defyne can all be used for lip enhancement, nasolabial folds, marionettes and most perioral lines.
