Something Sparkly: The Launch of the Phyto Corrective Masque

Our Skin Ceuticals rep is a friend of mine. She’s an amazing, ambitious woman with a huge heart. About a year and a half ago, she introduced me to hot yoga at Black Swan, and it quickly became my new love. She even got me my first lululemon yoga mat, which if you do yoga, you know you need that! Periodically she has brought me stones, each with its own healing properties. She tells me how I need to juice (I would but dang those juicers are expensive!!), and she has introduced me to other people in the med spa field. She’s pretty amazing. A few days ago I got an email from her about the launch of a new product: the Phyto Corrective Masque! Immediately I scooped my laptop up off my desk and walked up to the front desk to tell Maricela. Look! There’s a new masque from Skin Ceuticals!

Maricela: What does it do?

Me: It says it reduces visible redness and draws out heat, but it’s just so exciting! A new masque!

She laughed. Ohhh, something shiny!

We tease each other about the things that distract us. We call it “something shiny." For me, as far as beauty products go, it’s masques. There’s just something so fun about them. Maybe it’s partly nostalgic? Like being a kid and putting on your mud mask and knowing you look like the Go Gos on the front of their album/tape? Or maybe it’s promise. The promise of glowing skin and looking just a little bit better the next day. Maybe it’s because it feels like an at-home spa day. No matter what the reason, I was certain I had to have it. And it’s botanical. And it’s green! Why are these things exciting?!

I used this mask for the first time this weekend after walking my dogs in the 11 am heat and humidity, which means of course that it was 95 and so humid it was like walking in a sauna.

It was the ideal situation for giving this masque a first try. The masque was so cool when I applied it that it felt like it had been in the fridge. Very refreshing after an hour in the Texas sun. And because it’s a botanical mask it feels a bit like applying aloe to your face. I looked hydrated afterwards, but I think the best part was the cooling effect.

Skin Ceuticals says this masque contains highly-concentrated botanical extracts, a calming dipeptide, and hyaluronic acid to intensively soothe and replenish temporary skin reactivity.

It is an intensive calming facial mask that cools on contact (true!), comforts skin sensitivity, and restores natural radiance and smoothness. Used post-procedure (for something like Whisper Laser resurfacing) it effectively reduces visual redness and discomfort.

Suggested usage?

Daily: post workout, sun exposure, hot bath

Weekly/Seasonal: post travel, chlorine/salt water from swimming, windburn from winter activities

Post-procedure: post laser, extractions, IPL, and other in-office procedures

So basically you need this masque after hot yoga, the beach, skiing, running in the afternoon, after too much sun exposure, and after laser procedures.

Personally I don't care what it's for! I have to have it and I will use it after any hot or skin compromising situation! In fact, I can foresee hot yoga Thursday evening and a cool Phyto Corrective Masque right after!
