New Hydra Facial Treatment for Your Scalp + Hair!

October 4, 2019

The Hydra Facial scalp treatment is finally here! So far it has only been launched in Austin, Dallas and New York, so we feel special. We had our final training the other day and our Nurse Practitioner Jennifer was our model. She was the perfect person to try it out because she has thinning hair, but all her lab work is normal (hormonal changes can often play a major role in hair thinning/hair loss).

The Hydra Facial treatment is based on the principle that poor scalp health is a major contributor to damaged and thinning hair. Poor scalp health is considered:

  • low scalp hydration

  • clogged follicles

  • dead skin cell congestion

  • poor circulation

When I first heard about this treatment I had no idea how the HydraFacial would work on the scalp since it is a suctioning device, and "vortex technology" and hair don't seem like they would go together well. But no hair was injured in the process.

The treatment starts with your aesthetician parting your hair and using the suction on the scalp between the parts. The treatment focuses on the top and crown of the head. After going through many partings of the hair and cleaning and exfoliating of the scalp, the specialty corrective serum is applied to the scalp. The serum is called Kerestore, which is a proprietary blend of growth factors, peptides, and skin proteins which have been found to be missing in people with thinning or damaged hair.

After Kerestore is applied to the scalp, you get a nice scalp massage and then take-home product to be used once a day. The product should last about one month, and Hydra Facial is recommending the in-office treatment be done once per month for a total of 3 sessions. You’re of course welcome to do the treatment as often as you like, but three sessions is the recommended corrective treatment series. Maintenance sessions can be done whenever you feel like your hair needs a boost.

This is a great option for people who do not want to do the injectable PRP hair restoration, either due to cost or aversion to needles. Please note that if you know your hair loss is hormonal, these treatments probably won’t be effective for continued hair stimulation or growth. If you’ve had your lab work done and know there aren’t underlying issues to your thinning hair, this treatment should prove effective for nourishing your scalp and stimulating follicles for thicker, healthier hair. And after watching this treatment, I dare you stay awake while someone plays with your hair for half an hour!
